School of Architecture and Design offers a multi-disciplinary study of creation that integrates art, science, and technology to make built environments and objects. Our international programs synchronize with current context and technology while experimenting with a novel design. A balanced combination of theory and practice constitutes a series of courses and studios that strengthen core knowledge and design skill. Our student body comprises 60% of international students from more than 30 countries. Naturally, students are immersed in a multicultural learning environment within a truly international University, preparing them to thrive as global citizens. The School’s active collaborations with professionals and the architecture and design industry also broaden students’ horizons and enhance opportunities in securing jobs as architects, designers, and design entrepreneurs.
Suparath Valaisathien is a Professional Architect and Assistant Professor at the Department of Architecture. He holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from King Mongkut Institute of Technology Ladkrabung (2nd class honors) and Master of Architecture from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor (with distinction) with focus on Sustainable design. He continued for his second Master of Science in Advance Architecture Design (MSAAD) at Columbia University, New York.
Suparath joined the School of Architecture and Design since 1999, teaching mainly in the Design studios along with Construction and Technology classes. He was appointed as the Chairperson of Department of Architecture in 2016, and eventually the Dean of AAU since 2017.
He previously practiced as an Architect at Meltzer&Mandel in Manhattan before returning to Thailand. In 2004, he co-founded and became a Principal of At1 Studio Company Limited which is multi-disciplinary firm specialized in Modern Tropical design concepts for various building types and scales; ranging from interior design, private residence, dental clinic, hotel, office building, factory, convention hall, school, public park, and community planning proposal.
