TRI-PARTY STUDENT WORKSHOP
Housing in Saigon – Ho Chi Minh City: Conservation and Improvement
(7-11 January 2019)
During 7-11 January 2019, 10 students and 5 professors from the Faculty of Architecture, Assumption University joined a tri-party student workshop in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), Vietnam together with Seoul University and the host University of Architecture of HCMC. The workshop theme is Housing in Saigon – HCMC: Conservation and Improvement, which aims to let the students study and understand the characteristics as well as the transformation of the apartment housing in HCMC from time to time. The students then need to extract the values of those apartments, especially in terms of usage, to propose solutions to conserve those values while at the same time support the improvement of living and environment standard within and around the buildings.
During the workshop, the intensive collaboration of students from three universities resulted in the exchange of knowledge and communication to find solutions to conserve the values of the investigated apartment buildings while at the same time support the improvement of living conditions within and around the buildings.
The workshop results will be exhibited at the Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism in this fall 2019.
