School of Architecture and Design offers a multi-disciplinary study of creation that integrates art, science, and technology to make built environments and objects. Our international programs synchronize with current context and technology while experimenting with a novel design. A balanced combination of theory and practice constitutes a series of courses and studios that strengthen core knowledge and design skill. Our student body comprises 60% of international students from more than 30 countries. Naturally, students are immersed in a multicultural learning environment within a truly international University, preparing them to thrive as global citizens. The School’s active collaborations with professionals and the architecture and design industry also broaden students’ horizons and enhance opportunities in securing jobs as architects, designers, and design entrepreneurs.
Jaturont Boonla-or obtained his Bachelor of Architecture in 1996 at Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT University), Melbourne, Australia. After grauated, he worked as a design architect at Hassell Ltd. – one of the largest design firms in Australia for several years. In 1999, He continued his further study in urban and environmental planning and granted Master of Social Science (International Urban and Environmental Resource Management) in 2000 at the RMIT University, Australia.
He began his teaching career in 2001 when he worked as a full-time lecturer at King Mongkut’s University of Technology, Thonburi (KMUTT). During his 4 years at KMUTT, he taught Urban Planning, Environmental Technology, Architectural Design, Research Methodology, and Thesis courses. Since 2001, he has also practiced as a professional architect and had opportunity to design number of building typologies such as housing project (Master Piece Scenary Hill, Chiang Mai), office building (Econo Thailand), commercial building (The Whizio and Toyota Friendship, Toyota Car Showroom), and many more.
Jaturont is currently working at Assumption University where his main teaching courses are Architectural Design, Architectural Thesis, Building Technology and Construction, Environmental System, Building Equipment and Systems, and Sustainable Building Design for Montfort del Rosario School of Architecture and Design. Since 2009, his duties at the Assumption University have included teaching, Architecture Program Committee, Architcture Program Chairperson (2013-2016), and Head of School Facility Management. He has also been invited as a visiting lecturer for different universities in Thailand and oversea such as Chiang Mai University and King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (Thailand), University of Seoul (Korea), and Wismar University (Federal Republic of Germany).
